What happens after a badminton service foul is made?

Question:Rules – if a badminton service foul is made what will happen?Answer:
Hi Lauren, thanks for the question.
When you commit a service fault, you lose the rally and a rally point will be awarded to your opponent.
In professional badminton tournaments, service faults are usually detected by the service judge who sits at the side of the court.
When the service judge detects a service fault, the umpire will confirm the service judge’s call and signal the end of the rally. Then, a rally point is awarded to the opponent.
In casual badminton sessions, most people play without umpires or service judges. With no one to detect service faults, it may be difficult to handle disputes.
The best way is to get another player to sit at the side of the court, where the service judge sits, to help spot fouls accurately.
Sometimes when you suspect your opponent has made a service fault, it can be difficult to call the foul. Your opponent can say that you’re not in the perfect position to make the call, which is true to a certain extent.
In these instances, the best solution is to replay the rally if a dispute arises since it’s only played recreationally.
