Question: Explain how to determine which side you should be serving from after each point?

Answer:
Hi Jessica, thanks for your question.

Player(s) with even score numbers always serves from the right hand side.

Player(s) with odd score numbers serves from the left side.

Example

Even numbers: For example, you just won the last rally and your score is now 6. Therefore you will serve from the right side because 6 is an even number. When the badminton game has just started (love all, 0-0), the player delivering the badminton serve will serve from the right because 0 is an even number.

Odd numbers: If you won the last rally and your score is now 9, you will serve from the left side because 9 is an odd number.

This rule is the same for both badminton singles and doubles game.

Slightly More Complex for Badminton Doubles

However, it gets a little more complicated in badminton doubles. If you’re not so familiar with the badminton rules, it can get confusing.

There might be some confusion as to which player delivers the service.
