Question: How do you play badminton?Answer
Hi Bobby, thanks for the question.
We’re happy to hear someone interested in the sport.
In badminton, you can play a singles game or doubles game.
Badminton requires at least 2 players to play a singles game, or 4 players to play a doubles game.
The picture below shows you the boundaries of a badminton court.
The black line in the middle represents the badminton net.
Objective of the Game
The objective of the game is to hit the shuttlecock over to the other side of the court.
A badminton rally commences once a player serves.
Once the shuttlecock touches the ground, the rally ends. If the shuttlecock lands on your side of the court, the rally point will be given to your opponent.
Basic Rules
In a singles game, the in/ out boundaries are as follows.
In a doubles game, the in/ out boundaries are as follows.
Badminton is Played Indoor and Outdoor
Badminton can be played indoors and outdoors. If you want to enjoy the game more, I highly recommend playing indoors.
Also if you play badminton outdoors, the wind will affect the flight pattern of the shuttlecock. It will not be fun at all if the wind keeps interrupting your play!
Badminton gets interesting only when long rallies are being played. Therefore, I suggest an indoor plot if you’re looking to enjoy the sport.
Here’s an example of a really long rally in a professional match:
