Malaysian Open Super Series 2011 QUARTER FINAL
Lee Chong Wei vs Nguyen Tien Minh
Watch the Malaysia Open Super Series 2011 QUARTER FINALS, between Lee Chong Wei and Nguyen Tien Minh.
Chong Wei was not in good form during the first game. Tien was leading at the start but because of a couple of mistakes, Chong Wei managed to chase the points.
In the second game, we can observe a significant change of pace by Chong Wei. He was playing at a much faster pace in game 2. Tien had to move faster and harder to retrieve the shuttles from Chong Wei.
Chong Wei was able to deliver a series of strong attacks at a faster pace, which helped him won a couple of rallies.
However, Tien was able to keep up with the faster pace after a couple of rallies. In fact, he could still ‘out-pace’ Chong Wei sometimes. Tien is more of a physical player whose qualities lies on his speed and strength.
There was a controversial call made at around 8:58 of the 3rd video, which was at Chong Wei’s disadvantage. I think a clear error has been made (watch the slow motion replay) but the umpire did not overrule.
This call had indeed fired up Chong Wei. Probably because he was emotionally affected, he was playing more aggressively and performing better, at an even faster game tempo.
